Upon the ornate filigree of the mirror frames had settled a thick, black dust that competed with mould for dominance of the great hall. Similarly covered were the birdbones and old ribbons strewn about the floor, which themselves had yellowed and crumbled over the years of exposure. The layers, of dust and mould, would not unsettle even as a breeze blew through the hall, but no breeze had blown through for years, nor had even a single human breath been exhaled in that desolate chamber.
